At 0215 attack Holsthum. Pr|m crossed; completed at 1025. Secured high ground. Through Alsdorf, Meckel. Relieved 2nd battalion, Helenenberg.
Heavy artillery. Received air support, town taken at 1630. Ate in large hospital; attack resumed. Mission--Olk. Taken 1300.

Mvhn--taken earlier by friendly troops. 3rd squad, 1st platoon and 1st squad LMGs rejoined company. Company attached to 2nd Bn. Attack across the Kyll. 3rd platoon to clear Auw; 1st platoon to clear woods on right. Remainder of company into Hosten.
|Mar. 4||HOSTEN||30 PWs taken. 3rd platoon returned at 0445. 1st platoon to Preist.|
Through Preist; defense around the town, also security for armor of TF Onaway. Heavy artillery fire received. Resumed attack, clearing woods to Herforst. Through Herforst to attack on through Arenrath.
|Mar. 8||ARENRATH||Taken 0400. Off at 1900 to occupy Bruch; mission completed 2300.|
Company to continue NE of Bruch through woods. Small groups of enemy. Woods cleared 1630. Liaison plane dropped message; crashed.
Lieser crossed. Back to Hupperath. Chow, moved to Wittlich. First large German city, hit by Air Force, artillery. Roads heavily mined. Anticipated rest canceled; attack resumed. Company's assignments: Buscheide, Altrich, Osann, Monzel, Kesten. No resistance--except artillery.
OPLR along Moselle. Gen. Woolfley visited company. 125 PWs to date. Heavy artillery coming in. The 3rd platoon plus 1 LMG squad stayed in town. Remainder of company to Monzel.
|Mar. 16||MONZEL||Across the Moselle. Opposite shore heavily mined; several casualties.|
|Mar. 19||WINTRICH||Thirty-six PWs captured.|
|Mar. 20||OSANN||Reinforcements. On to the Rhine. By truck convoy to Rheinbvllen.|
Flushed woods. (And then close order drill!) Motorized night patrols; final preparations for Rhine crossing. Div. now in VIII Corps.
Relieved friendly troops 0830. Defensive positions. CP established cellar of telephone exchange; city in ruins. First electricity; first radios; much champagne! Enemy seems to be withdrawing. 2nd Division on the left.
Withdrew from Koblenz, passed through Dvrth, and crossed Rhine. Arrived Oberseelbach here in Division reserve. CP in Kindergarten.
|Apr. 3||NIEDERH\LSA||Departed Oberseelbach by truck, arriving in Niederh|lsa 1645.|
Continued sweeping through Wickenrode, Eltmannshausen, defensive positions on Wehre River, and Grossengottern.
Arrived 2030. Joined 6th Armored which took large airport, outskirts of city. Company cleared the town.
|Apr. 8||NDGELSTEDT||Company was strafed; ack-ack downed one plane.|
Attacked at 0500 from Ndgelstedt. Defensive positions between Hassleben and Werningshausen. 31 PWs.
Left Hassleben 1200 and continued attack by motor, following 6th Armored. 70 miles and no resistance.
Attack again. Left Kretzschau 0930. The Weisse Elster River waded; completed mission at 2000. Relieved by 417th. Thirty PWs (including four officers) captured. Back to Kretzschau.
|Apr. 14||KRETZSCHAU||On to Mittweida, forty miles. Many DPs along way.|
|Apr. 16||MITTWEIDA||Overnight stop. Next move Altmittweida; defensive positions taken.|
|Apr. 17||ALTMITTWEIDA||Assigned to clear and occupy Dreiwerden. Forded Zschopau River.|
Twelve Kraut, machine-guns and panzerfausts caught sleeping. Ninety PWs. Nineteen SS in the group. Defensive positions; enemy, friendly patrols active. Hope to be first to meet Russians. CO says company is the farthest advanced element into Eastern Germany.
|Apr. 25|| LANGENLEUBA-
Reserve; tension eased. Garrison life again-shoeshines, haircuts, pressed trousers, and not to be forgotten-training.
New assignment-guard seven hospitals. Billets-excellent; CP-large hotel. Enemy liaison plane forced down-no benzine.
