Occupied pillboxes other side of river; damp, dark, dirty . . . more mud . . . 88s in town . . . kitchen caught it.

Feb. 25  FERSCHWEILER In the fight, but good . . . caught 88s and mortars all day.
Feb. 28  MECKEL Took Helenenberg T . . . relieved; back to Meckel for a rest.
Mar.  1  OLK

Assaulted through town; a couple pillboxes . . . spotted Kraut tank . . . caught heavy stuff . . . back into town . . . spent night . . good air support.

Mar.  2  WELSCHBILLIG Took a break . . . that night jumped off across Kyll.
Mar.  3  ENROUTE

Hosten without a fight . . . Kraut machine-gunned river . . . assault boats . . . hoofed it to Preist; took heavy shelling . . . 6o PWs.

Mar.  4  SPEICHER Jerry mortars, 88s again . . . nobody hurt . . . more PWs.
Mar.  5  SPEICHER Helped F Company out . . . we caught the book! 28 new men came.
Mar.  7  HERFORST Attack in morning; not too much trouble . . . billeted there.
Mar.  8 BURG  Relieved 385th as town security . . . (Long fast march getting there.)
Mar.  9  MUSWEILER 

Crossed Kyll again . . . steep banks, dark, tough . . . light sniper fire . . . in morning took Musweiler . . . caught all kinds of fire.

Mar. 10  SCHLADT Jumped off towards Schladt at 0130 . . . took town easily and slept there.
Mar. 11  WITTLICH

Musweiler; Gipperath; Greinerath; still no fire; Plein; Wittlich 1900; 30 replacements.

Mar. 12  PLATTEN Moved out on foot; 3rd battalion reserve.
Mar. 13  ALTRICH Rest at last . . . corps reserve!
Mar. 15  LIESER Pulling outpost guard . . . things quiet.
Mar. 20  NOVIAND Billets are okay . . . movies.
Mar. 21 NIEDERHEIMBACH  81 miles by truck, outpost guard along Rhine . . . jeeps chased by 20 mm fire.
Mar. 26  RHEINBÖLLEN  Extended company sector . . . spread thin.
Mar. 27  LANGSCHEID  Still holding the Rhine.
Mar. 29 ST. GOAR  Early move . . . searchlights on river . . . guarding bridge.
Apr.   1  ST. GOAR  Bridge duty over; all set to join armored drive.
Apr.   3  GROSSROPPER HAUSEN  All day on trucks . . . shivered in light rain . . . K-rations.
Apr.   4  MELSUNGEN  Another truck . . . billets . . . more cold rain.
Apr.   5  FRANKERSHAUSEN 

3rd platoon at Melsungen . . . foot move . . . guard Regtl. CP . . . flushed woods . . . arrived Frankershausen dog-tired, wet, hungry . . .

Apr.   6  ZIMMERN  Truck in rain . . . 2nd platoon back.
Apr.   7  THAMSBRÜCK Hiked from Zimmern. Billeted for the night.
Apr. 8  MERXLEBEN 

Out of Thamsbrück 0315 (on foot) . . . hiked into town about 0415 . . . 3rd platoon still at Corps . . . 2nd into Sundhausen . . . 1st platoon in Klettstedt . . . 4th ran motor patrol . . . took three, killed three in outpost scrap.

Apr. 10  STRAUSSFURT 

Jumped off. Big show . . . Urleben without trouble . . . then Bad Tennstedt . . . small-arms fire . . . strafed . . . Ballhausen; Straussfurt . . . more light stuff . . . large volume; stopped counter-attack before it got underway.

Apr. 11  WERNIGSHAUSEN  Left by truck, back to Bad Tennstedt . . . on trucks again to Werningshausen.
Apr. 13  KRETZSCHAU  Arrived 0615. Gave support to 1st battalion, Zeitz.
Apr. 14  ÖLSEN 

Out of Zeitz about 0100, rejoined battalion ... then to 212th FA Bn.; 40 more km . . . Geussnitz, caught in small-arms fire.

Apr. 15  ALTMITTWEIDA 

Left Ölsen 0800, trucks . . . 80 km . . . dropped the 1st Lunzenau-- P. W. guard . . . picked up full company enemy who "offered" to surrender.

Apr. 16 KRUMBACH Dreiwerden; heavy fire, mortars and meemies . . . rode to Krumbach.
Apr. 17  OTTENDORF  Moved from Krumbach 1415 on foot . . . set up defense system in woods.
Apr. 18 MARKERSDORF Battalion at Krumbach; Markersdorf . . . more outposts . . . movies.
Apr. 24 BURKERSDORF

Set up defensive system, coordinated heavies and mortars . . . closed town along eastern railbed . . . more rainy weather.

Apr. 25 BURKERSDORF

The war "seems" to be over . . . business as usual . . . no celebration. May 9th - V-E Day!
