Feb. 7	OSWEILER, LUXEMBOURG	417th across river. Our 81s supported. M.G. platoons bring ammo through mine field to 81s.
Feb. 16	ECHTERNACH, GERMANY	Crossed Sauer; smoke screen. Mortar, 88s continuous. Ready for anything.
Feb. 24	DIESBURGERHOF	Across Prüm. Fierce fighting; casualties, PWs. Tanks. Walked all night, dug in. Tired. K-rations. Mortar ammo bearers . . . extreme fatigue.
Feb. 25	HOLSTHUMERBERG	Keep going; casualties; No rest. Meemie fire terrific.
Feb. 26	MECKEL	Attack grows heavier. More casualties. Artillery too close. Waded Nims. Took Meckel--counter-attacks: infantry--then tanks. More PWs, more dead Kraut, horses everywhere.
Feb. 28	OLK	Pillboxes cleared with heavy weapons. Kraut mortar fire heavy.
Mar. 3	ITTEL-KYLL	Machine-gun platoons pinned down; mortar, MG fire; crawl to squad boats. Over Kyll. 60: slope; 0200 captured Preist. Our mortars threw heavy barrage in support. 100 PWs. Took Speicher. Bitter fight; key supply point.
Mar. 8	BURG	Strong counter-attack. Jerry tanks. Infantry riding. Take Burg.
Mar. 9	MUSWEILER	Marched 5,000 yards; captured Musweiler.
Mar. 10	SCHLADT	Attacked Schladt. Many PWs.
Mar. 11	WITTLICH	Two counter-attacks. Took Plein. Regimental reserve in Wittlich.
Mar. 15	NOVIAND	1st, 3rd platoons in support of 3rd Bn., Maring. Beaucoup burp guns, but "Dog Faces" had beaucoup courage. The town is ours.
Mar. 21	HEIMBACH	90 miles--one day to Rhine. Defensive Oberheimbach, Niederheimbach etc. (At last a castle! Towers as OPs. Enemy fire 20 mm AA Guns.)
Mar. 29	ST. GOAR	We guard vital bridge over Rhine.
Apr. 9	THAMSBRÜCK	Crossed Rhine April 2. Thamsbrück today.
Apr. 10	VEHRA	6th Armored. Supported battalion. 7 towns, one day. No casualties (amazing luck!). Enemy losses heavy. Confused by swiftness of our attack.
Apr. 13	KRETZSCHAU	2nd, 3rd platoons with 1st Bn. again. No casualties. Snipers, well hidden flak guns. Plane shot down. Exploded. Civilians killed.
Apr. 14	KRETZSCHAU	By-passed Zeitz; thick woods, small farm road. 6th Armored.
Apr. 15	MAHLEN	Rolled and rolled. (Last great drive; didn't know it then!) Thousands of liberated. German soldiers, no guard, hands on heads. Lunzenau.
Apr. 16	OTTENDORF	Relieved from 6th Armored. Never went further into Germany. Electric power on; from German side. War didn't seem as near end as it was.
Apr. 19	MARKERSDORF	Regtl. reserve now. Russians near, they tell us. Spirits high.
Apr. 24	BURKERSDORF	Back again. Still waiting. Scrap now and then, but not much.
May 9	BURKERSDORF	V-E Day. It's over! - the whole thing. Became aware of C. B. I., little by little. Proud of our record in this theater.
