Dig in our 57s, stick to them day and night, ready for anything German on wheels; snow, slush, mud--we're in the middle of it; 2nd platoon guns getting daily serenade of 88s with approaching roads under direct enemy observation. Support 417th crossing with direct fire. |

Get set for Kyll crossing; it's assembly area, but Kraut around; one knocked at our door to surrender. |
| Mar. 4 | KYLL |
Wierd ride down hairpin-turns of steep Kyll bluff to pitch black-ness, rain and roaring river. 60 of our men carry rations and ammo to 2nd Bn. across Kyll up 60-degree slope cross-country for ten miles; backbreaking, but brought back 150 prisoners. |

Came in at night, didn't realize the size of this town--it's the first big one. 10th Armored just ahead. We get orders to move to the Moselle. |
| Mar. 13 | PLATTEN |
Company rotates in billets in town, others putting down HE barrage on towns across the river. We make big experiment: mount guns on 2= ton trucks, make them self-propelled. Try out 70 rounds on first gun mounted. It works. Mine Platoon out nightly clearing roads on both sides of Moselle. |
| Mar. 21 | DÖRREBACH |
We're on the Rhine! Mine platoon clears roads along the river; hit hard at towns on far bank. |
| Mar. 27 | EMMELSHAUSEN |
Bridge, tunnel, road guarding mission; wild rumors of Patton's armor tearing to Berlin; expect to cross the Rhine soon. |

3rd platoon returns from Koblenz mission with 1st battalion; we're set to cross the Rhine at St. Goar. |

| Apr. 6 | LANGENSALZA |
Snipers still active when CP moved in ahead of Regimental; 57s supporting 1st and 2nd Bns. east of city; Mine platoon guarding warehouses of food, army supplies, champagne, brandy! Luftwaffe makes bow. |
| Apr. 10 | HERBSLEBEN |
Three gun platoons aid in capturing 13 towns; try out marching 57 mm fire with trucks moving backwards blasting at towns; trouble when two gun trucks and crews dive into river when shelled bridge collapses. |
| Apr. 12 | OSTERFELD |
Traveled all day with 6th Armored spearhead; came in at night, only houses lining street where armor went through are cleared. Double guard. |
| Apr. 13 | KRETZSCHAU |
Battle of Zeitz a mile away; plenty of action here too. Uncover big enemy pocket manning ten 128mm flak guns; two jeeps lost, but kept enemy busy until F company and tanks move in to clean up. 95 prisoners taken, plus guns. Junkers 88 comes down in flames a few yards from CP just at dusk. The AAA boys picked it off. |
| Apr. 14 | DROSSDORF |
A night in the field with 6th Armored and entire regiment sprawled over countryside. |
| Apr. 15 | WIEDERAU |
Moving through Altenburg, convoy stops here at 0400 for few hours before moving to new regimental sector along Zschopau. |
